END OF TERM THREE...

It is the end of term 3 already. I can't quite believe how quickly it has gone.
But I have to say...... I am super impressed by room 9.
We have all put a lot of effort into your ASPIRE projects, and the results reflect this. I was very proud of you all, and so should you all have been at our parent night on the last week of term. We presented such a diverse range of projects, all of which made our parents think about "The IMPACT we are having on our environment" and how we can make a difference. I will add pictures and evidence as soon as all of the lovely room 9 students get back to school.
I also have had the pleasure of being persuaded by the room 9 students through some fantastic pieces of writing.. It has taken a large chunk of time to read them all and make notes, give feedback. But it has been well worth it, and I am so impressed with the improvement from the first pieces of writing at the beginning of the term.
I hope to see these skills put into practice when students are preparing their speeches early next term.
We have a busy term ahead of us.. be sure to check in week one to get some of the details.. hopefully I will have some more photos by then too.
Hope you are all enjoying a lovely holiday break

IMPACT ASPIRE PROGRESS

We are up to the I in ASPIRE this week and all room 9 students are working hard to "make a difference in their environmnet" in some way. Here is a little sample of what some of the students are up to...
Making a worm farm
Creating kids dress ups out of old clothes and fabrics.
Creating an awareness about Palm oil through magnets and badges.
Using recipes to highlight a number of foods that are low on 'food miles.'

This is just a sneak preview. We invite all parents and families to join room 9 in our class presentation in the last week of term, where you will see exactly what all of the fabulous room 9 students have been up to.

Keep working hard room 9, you are doing a fabulous job so far and making good progress :)

SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

Last Friday was the school cross country. It was a gorgeous day and everyone ran really well. A special well done to Will McAllister (3rd) Henri Gaudin (7th) and Lucy Cathro (7th) who will all represent our school in the Otago Cross Country champs to be held at school on Friday 9th September. Good luck!

Well Done Henri and his team

Henri was in the top O'Mathalon team along with Jaren Roy, Sean Lau and HOlly Armstrong. They competed at the town hall last night and won! They were awarded a $40 voucher and chocolate calculator (yum.)

NEW BLOG PAGE.

Hi students, parents and friends of room 9. We have a new blog page.

I plan on making this as interactive as possible. But to achieve that..... I need YOUR help!

I would like to start with a discussion about our ASPIRE projects. I noticed when reading your Accumulation that a lot of the subject areas you were researching crossed over. For example; Beau is researching palm oil and Nicola and Lola are researching make up and cosmetics. Perhaps Beau could give some insight into how many cosmetics contain palm oil.

So... each group or individual needs to post their focus question on our blog page. Then all students need to comment positively and critically on other student's focus areas. Ask your peers some interesting questions, or suggest things they might not have thought of, what about recommending a website or video clip? I will have rewards for the most thoughtful contributions.
